Aligning with your soul involves nurturing various dimensions of mental strength. Below are practical approaches to fortify the mind:

Self-Inquiry

  • To answer the question Who Am I? beyond thoughts, emotions, body, status, or stories

  • Auditing to self-inquire is a great exercise, which will often reveal the transient nature of the ego and pointing to the witness behind it all

  • The mind has many thoughts minute to minute, but going inward to trace the source of the ‘I’ in every thought can be an opportunity to tap into pure consciousness for this is where the peeling of illusory layers often begins

  Meditation

  • Find a mantra to begin your practice if you are unable to start somewhere comfortable

  • Repetition of a mantra overrides mental chatter and calms the "default mode network"—a part of the brain tied to mind-wandering, self-reflection, and rumination Psychology Today.

  • Mantras are typically short, sacred utterances used in various spiritual traditions like Hinduism, Buddhism, and yoga according to Calm and Intermountain Health

  • Regular meditation helps to quiet the mental chatter and unfortunately mental chatter often reinforces the illusory self

  • In stillness, people often begin to sense the soul’s nature and move into a space of compassion, consciousness and awareness

Let Go of Attachments

  • We often identify with “I am this profession, I am this pain, I am this failure/success, I am a parent…sibling…child…etc.”, however, we must consciously let go of these identifications and go deeper

  • Giving birth to something more spacious, divine, and real in relation to your true nature

  • Attachments give rise to a false identity one we become very attached

  • Attachments often material allow for temporary happiness

  • The Buddha affirmed: “Attachment is the root of suffering,” and offered a transformative alternative—not indifference, but liberating love and open-handed engagement Buddhism Way.

 Following Inner Resonance

  • The soul often speaks or nudges in resonance, intuition, feelings - they are messages in different forms

  • Mindfulness often opens up the space for messages to come through

  • Mindfulness helps quiet the nonstop stream of thoughts, creating mental space for subtle intuitive insights to emerge.intuition.managementThe Enlightenment Journey

  • Feeling aligned from the interior and not what society or the ego demands brings you closer to your soul’s rightful path and therefore your own divine nature

Shadow Work

  • Integrating repressed parts of the self, rather than suppressing or projecting them

  • The more one represses and suppresses what does not serve for enlightenment will only create more darkness, hiding the soul’s glimmer

  • True soul alignment requires wholeness, not just light. Think Carl Jung: “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light but by making the darkness conscious.”

Service, Compassion, and Presence

  • The soul naturally expresses through love, creativity, connection, and presence

  • Gifting love, kindness, compassion from helping others, volunteering, doing without needing to receive will feed your soul

  • When you act from a place of genuine compassion or service, you're embodying the soul's frequency

Surrender

  • Surrender doesn’t mean passivity—it means trusting life, trusting the soul’s unfolding, and letting go of the need to control everything

  • Many spiritual traditions speak of surrender as the gateway to union with the Divine or Self

  • The soul always lurks in the background whether you are consciously aware or not, so surrender to what must happen
